I’m really excited about this week’s The Ageless Traveler podcast because it’s all about Nepal, a place I missed in the 60s that I think might have changed the direction of my life. I was a college kid clutching my Europe on 5 Dollars A Day book, and after visiting Italy, I had a choice: go to Greece by myself or go with the cool, hippie types to Kathmandu. I went to Greece. I also went to law school and never pursued my desire to be a writer, a scholar, maybe an academic.
I think that choice was one of my many crossroads.
But when life gives you a chance, dance, and that means it’s never too late to be who you could have been.
I love the tourism direction Nepal is taking, sustainable, art and culture-minded, and entirely local. You’ll love hearing from my guest, the CEO of Community Homestay Network…it’s a breakthrough for all of us who missed out on traveling to Nepal.
And in the usual sections of our newsletter, you will find:

Ask Adriane
Q. I follow longevity advances carefully, and I know you do too. Are there any outstanding recent occurrences you find significant? — Jay from Chattanooga, Tennessee
A. Longevity science is moving so fast that the landscape looks different every few months. I FOLLOW WHAT’S HAPPENING BECAUSE WITHOUT HEALTH THERE IS NO CHANCE TO TRAVEL…GOOD HEALTH AS WE AGE IS THE BASELINE.
Two recent developments caught my attention, because they both deal with early detection of problems that may be reversed, cured, or totally prevented if you know about them far in advance:
1. The first is a landmark partnership between Hong Kong-based AI drug discovery company Insilico Medicine and the US company Human Longevity. Together, they are building what they describe as the industry’s first large-scale AI foundation models capable of predicting diseases decades before any symptoms appear. Think about what that means for travel and life planning.
2. The second is France’s Lucis, a startup that just raised $20 million to expand its AI-driven preventive healthcare platform. Lucis combines 110 blood biomarker tests with longitudinal health data and physician-reviewed AI insights, helping users detect risks earlier and take preventive action before symptoms appear.

World Gin Week Is Here
Mark your calendars: June 13–20, 2026, is the inaugural World Gin Week
IN NYC: In New York City, marquee events take place at The Ivory Peacock, including a World Gin Day Kick-Off Party on June 13th with walk-around tastings of gins served as G&Ts and Martinis; a two-night London Cocktail Bar Residency on June 14th and 15th; and on June 20th World Martini Day, both ticketed educational seminars on gin and mixology and a closing party featuring pop-up bars from celebrated New York bartenders serving their signature Martinis.
If you prefer wine to gin and are in NYC, note that LenLen, the Thai bar and restaurant in the Flatiron District, has just launched its own private label wine collection called GoodGood. Wine director Tim Stuyts has chosen a Sauvignon Blanc/Sémillon blend from Bordeaux (Château Tassin, 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Sémillon) and a 100% Pinot Noir from Burgundy (Domaine Famille Paquete), both priced accessibly at $16 a glass or $64 a bottle. Chef Peter Ki Suk Tondreau says: “It’s about bringing Thai food and wine together in a way that feels both natural and accessible.” LenLen is open daily from 5 pm to 1 am, a perfect stop before or after a World Gin Week event.

4 Unique Hints and Tips to Make Airfares Cheaper
There’s no point pretending otherwise: airfares have skyrocketed, and the usual advice book early, fly midweek, compare prices has become the background noise of every travel conversation. So let me tell you about four approaches that are genuinely worth your attention.
#1. I researched new credit card sign-up bonus programs: My picks are:
The Chase Sapphire Preferred, offering 75,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $5,000 in the first three months, is worth over $750 in travel.
The JetBlue Plus Card offers 60,000 points after meeting its spend requirement, plus 50% off in-flight food and beverages.
The key is knowing where to transfer- Chase transfers to United, British Airways, and Air France/KLM; Capital One transfers to Air Canada, Turkish Airlines, and others.
#2. Norse Atlantic Airways operates Boeing 787 Dreamliners on routes like New York to London, Oslo, and Paris at roughly 40% of what legacy carriers charge on the same routes, with New York-London round-trip tickets tracked as low as $299 in 2026.
#3. Choose cheaper destinations: Data from Dollar Flight Club’s 2026 forecast identifies Fort Lauderdale as the cheapest domestic destination, while internationally, San Salvador, Madrid, and Lisbon consistently offer some of the lowest transatlantic fares, particularly in spring and fall shoulder seasons.
#4. Use fare alert services: Services like Dollar Flight Club, Thrifty Traveler Premium, and Scott’s Cheap Flights (now Going) send you alerts when prices drop to extraordinary levels — and they do drop, often dramatically and without warning. Thrifty Traveler has documented $196 round-trip flights to Hawaii and business class seats to Europe for 60,000 miles in 2026. and $299 flights to London.
