Dear Ageless Traveler,

True confession: I like to shop when I travel and get pleasure out of counting how many countries I’m wearing! Shoes from Italy, jewelry from India, a hat from Ecuador.

I cringed when I heard that Swedish Death Cleaning was a thing. Purging stuff to organize your closet is great, as is getting rid of junk so your family doesn’t have to.

But that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to acquire good new stuff at a great price and have some retail therapy.

When exchange rates are good, I buy items in Europe or Asia that I could never buy at home.

But I do make concessions to my age. When I buy jewelry, I often think, “Will my kids like this when they inherit it?” If it’s a ceremonial garment that looks great in Uganda, I ask, “Is this really going to look good in NYC or LA?” And most of all, if it’s art: “Where will I put it?”

So in this issue, I debrief myself on where I shop, how I shop, and where the bargains are. None of the places I mention are ads or sponsors. In fact, they won’t know I gave them a plug unless you tell them.

I’m doing this to share information I think is unique and to let you have some retail… or better yet, wholesale fun.

Never stop traveling

Cheers,

Adriane
