Dear Ageless Traveler,

In five weeks, The Ageless Traveler podcast starts its third year. I started The Ageless Traveler when I turned 75 to break down barriers to 60+ travel, like ageism toward older travelers, single supplements and complicated booking technology. I also wanted to raise awareness of how travel helps us keep fit, productive and contribute to society.

I’m thrilled with our progress, but you may not be aware of how listening, commenting, following, and joining our Facebook Salon has helped realize these goals. Here are a few milestones you helped reach:

1. The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) held a joint meeting with UN Tourism. On October 1st, at the UN’s International Day of Older Persons, I met with Amal Rafah, who oversees DESA’s section on older people. She told me that our advocacy will be part of upcoming events.

2. Frommer’s published my article on Caregiving and Travel, as a synopsis of our Free eBook, The Caregivers Travel Guide. The more you subscribe to our free materials, the more notice the travel industry takes of our issues.

3. Fodor’s Travel commissioned an upcoming article on dentistry in Tijuana, which I pitched to them after hearing from you of your interest in dental tourism.

4. The Ageless Ambassador Program, designed to facilitate voluntouring, has connected with AmeriCorps Senior, making it easier for you to pick the proper organization to give you time.

All of this was achieved because of your loyal listening, reading, and feedback. Please keep the connection going through voice mail and text.

In this week’s Podcast, I feature a continuation of my interview with Derick Remember with hints and tips for Ugandan Safaris by jeep, water, trekking and walking.

Luxury Travel for Less

My Favorite Travel Hat, Fanny Pack, and Packing Tools

The cost of Travel is not just the hotels and sightseeing. You need gear. I’ve curated a few products that I love. (The Ageless Traveler may get a small commission if you book or buy through them).

For example, for safety in the sun, I urge you to get an adventurer’s hat to shield you from the rays. Mine cost $40 and does everything that you’ll get with $120 hat. Buy it here.

Backpacks are not comfortable for me. It took years to find the right type of fanny pack for travel at a great price. I found this one and I use it at home too.

Finally, you asked me how I could pack in one suitcase for three months on the road in different climates. I use separate travel packs from Tripped for EVERYTHING. I even use them to organize my home closet. Click here for the best affordable full suitcase set of travel packing bags.
